Dandelion leaves are an excellent source of vitamins A, C and K. They also contain vitamin E, folate and small amounts of B vitamins. Dandelion leaves also provide a substantial amount of several minerals including iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium. As well as being full of antioxidants, they are anti-inflamatory, promote a healthy liver, and are good for digestive issues.
Peppermint is antispasmodic, antiseptic, anaesthetic, astringent, analgesic and diaphoretic. It’s considered a tonic, decongestant, stimulant, stomachic and antiemetic. Common medicinal use include: relieves nausea and motion sickness, helps IBS symptoms, aids in relieving hangovers, decrease flatulence, calms, restores and lends clarity, relieves toothaches and headaches, clears throat, boosts energy.
Calendula has long been a multi purpose and beautiful delight. It’s gorgeous yellow flowers Can be consumed, applied topically or brewed into tea. It’s antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and great for relieving muscle spasms.
Nettle leaf can be used to treat a variety of things allergies and hayfever thanks to its antihistamine properties. It can also boost energy levels, alleviate arthritic pain and symptoms of gout.
Variegated thistle seed is probably not on the radar of commonly known herbs, however as a liver tonic it has been in use for thousands of years. Modern research shows that variegated thistle has a truly remarkable ability to both regenerate damaged liver cells and to protect them from poisons. Antioxidant, bitter tonic, the seeds are cholagogue, and nourish the liver, gallbladder and spleen.
Brew instructions: Place 1 teaspoon of tea per cup (250ml) in an infuser, tea bottle or teapot, boil kettle, allow water to cool for 3 minutes. Pour over leaves and let steep for 2-3 minutes and enjoy!
